About Our Farm

Owned & Operated by our family to provide for your family!

Burgundy Brook Farm is family owned and operated for over 25 years specializing in agriculture, livestock, land management, crop growth and crop rotation. Our story starts with the Patriarch of the family, Mr. Thomas Roberts, who has had a passion for farming since he was a young boy. He started raising and breeding livestock at the incredibly young age of 6 with the help of his parents. By the age of 10 he started his very own business, Roberts’ Livestock Farm, in his hometown of Granby, Massachusets where he raised, bred and sold Hereford Cattle, Yorkshire Pigs and horses. He went on to study at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture where he earned his associates degree in animal science. During the summer of 1981, he went off to work at the Circle S Flat Top Ranch in Yampa, CO. Responsible for maintaining and fixing fence on the 18,000 acre ranch, Mr. Roberts also synchronized and AI bred 1500+ cow-calf pairs. The following year, Mr. Roberts worked as a farm manager at Rosewald Angus Seed Stock Farm in Hillsborough, New Hampshire overseeing day to day farm responsibilities, breeding and raising Angus cattle and used artificial insemination techniques on cattle. By the spring of 1983, Mr. Roberts moved back to his hometown and rented land at the Old Trompke Farm to start his own agricultural enterprise. There he was able to raise and breed beef cattle and hogs, grow ear corn, harvest crops and grind, mix and balance feeding rations. By the summer of 1992, Mr. Roberts came across an opportunity of a lifetime when he found the 193-acre farm, formerly known as the Domey Farm, for sale in Palmer, Massachusetts.
With the purchase of the old Domey Farm; a dairy farm that was once known for providing the local community with daily milk deliveries, Mr. Roberts was able to pursue his long-time dream of owning his own farm . With the help of his wife, MaryAnn, and two children, Brian and Michelle, we soon became known as Burgundy Brook Farm. We too became known in the community; first with our road-side fruit and vegetable stand and then with our local country farm store. We served fresh deli sandwiches, homemade soups and lunch specials as well as our very own farm raised meats in our butcher shop. Perhaps some of the towns favorite memories were the horse drawn hay rides to our strawberry patch in the summer and to our pumpkin patch in the fall.
We have since expanded our farm with close to 400 additional acres in Belchertown, Massachusetts With more farmland, we have been able to increase our Angus based cattle herd and our hay production while also focusing on crop rotations and rotational grazing.

Burgundy Brook Farm was built by our family and we want to provide your family with all of the natural resources that our farm has to offer.
